Redefining Justice and Freedom for Everyone: A Talk by Dr. Angela Davis Zimmerli Art Museum

zimmerli

Through her activism and scholarship over many decades, Angela Davis has always emphasized the importance of building communities of struggle for economic, racial, and gender justice. Having helped to popularize the notion of a “prison industrial complex,” she now urges her audiences to imagine a world without prisons and to help forge a 21st-century abolitionist movement.

Davis is Distinguished Professor Emerita of History of Consciousness and of Feminist Studies at University of California Santa Cruz. Her most recent book is Abolition. Feminism. Now. (Haymarket Books, 2022).

Wash and Learn

Select Wednesdays each month

We are excited to share this innovative bilingual (Spanish-English) program called Wash and Learn. This creative literacy program organized by Roosevelt Elementary School in New Brunswick provides books for children of all ages, as well as adults. All donations are housed at a local laundromat to encourage students to read while parents are doing their laundry.

To donate books to New Brunswick’s Wash and Learn program, please contact Anne-Marie Riveaux McMahon at
anne-marie_mcmahon@nbpsnj.net and Maritza Acevedo at maritza_acevedo@nbpsnj.net.
