Join artist Karen Guancione to learn how to make your own sculptural “altered" book. Make a unique creation with old books, recycled materials, collage, and decorative embellishments of your choice.

Participants should bring one or more old books that you will alter and transform through cutting, folding, gluing, tearing, collaging, and embellishing. You are also invited to bring found objects and mementos, paper collage scraps, photos, and recycled items such as buttons, shards, plastics, bottle caps, old jewelry, threads, fabrics, and other colorful, tactile items to incorporate in your personalized sculptural book. Registration and masks are required!

Wash and Learn

wash and learn

Select Wednesdays each month

We are excited to share this innovative bilingual (Spanish-English) program called Wash and Learn. This creative literacy program organized by Roosevelt Elementary School in New Brunswick provides books for children of all ages, as well as adults. All donations are housed at a local laundromat to encourage students to read while parents are doing their laundry.

To donate books to New Brunswick’s Wash and Learn program, please contact Anne-Marie Riveaux McMahon at
anne-marie_mcmahon@nbpsnj.net and Maritza Acevedo at maritza_acevedo@nbpsnj.net.
