Natya-Darpan

Indian Heritage and Cultural Association, NJ

Natya Darpan is a multilingual short play festival in New Jersey. Many highly acclaimed and award-winning U.S.-based theater groups perform exceptionally high-quality short plays in Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati, and English. The Indian Heritage and Cultural Association, NJ (IHCA-NJ) invites scripts in any languages from prominent theater groups as well as newly emerging theater groups. The selection committee involves highly accomplished actors, directors, and writers from the U.S. and India. Short-listed accomplished selected scripts are then invited to audition in New Jersey, from which the final six to eight short plays are chosen for Natya Darpan.

Natya Darpan is a showcase, not a completion. IHCA-NJ gives complete freedom to the director to present and establish their creative thoughts. IHCA-NJ prefers an out-of-the-box concept and interesting message when selecting scripts at Natya Darpan, rather than sets or props.

Wash and Learn

wash and learn

Select Wednesdays each month

We are excited to share this innovative bilingual (Spanish-English) program called Wash and Learn. This creative literacy program organized by Roosevelt Elementary School in New Brunswick provides books for children of all ages, as well as adults. All donations are housed at a local laundromat to encourage students to read while parents are doing their laundry.

To donate books to New Brunswick’s Wash and Learn program, please contact Anne-Marie Riveaux McMahon at
anne-marie_mcmahon@nbpsnj.net and Maritza Acevedo at maritza_acevedo@nbpsnj.net.
