History Day

Transport yourself back in time as you stroll the grounds of the East Jersey Old Town Village during our Annual History Day!

Immerse yourself in art, culture, craftsmanship, and architecture as our historical interpreters bring history to life! “Catch” the excitement while rooting for your favorite vintage baseball team and root for the “Yankees” during a Revolutionary War Demonstration.

Countless activities captivate guests throughout the grounds and buildings of this local treasure! Home & hearth demonstrations, traditional musical performances, wagon rides, children's crafts, stone carving, and our 19th century print shop! With a dedicated children’s area and a historical tavern, there is fun for guests of all ages!

Swing by the general store for some snacks and souvenirs; and visit local food trucks to round out your time traveling experience!

Take a short trip over to the Cornelius Low House to check out the Micah Williams exhibit! With over 40 paintings on view, visitors can come to face to face with Middlesex and Monmouth County residents. The exhibition offers viewers the opportunity to explore family relationships among the sitters as well as a glimpse into a prospering agrarian society through clothing, furniture, backgrounds, and props featured in the portraits.

The exhibit will be on display at the Cornelius Low House Museum, 1225 River Road, Piscataway, NJ 08854 from April 1, 2023 - June 30, 2024.

Select Wednesdays each month

We are excited to share this innovative bilingual (Spanish-English) program called Wash and Learn. This creative literacy program organized by Roosevelt Elementary School in New Brunswick provides books for children of all ages, as well as adults. All donations are housed at a local laundromat to encourage students to read while parents are doing their laundry.

To donate books to New Brunswick’s Wash and Learn program, please contact Anne-Marie Riveaux McMahon at
anne-marie_mcmahon@nbpsnj.net and Maritza Acevedo at maritza_acevedo@nbpsnj.net.
