In celebration of this year’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on January 17, 2022, Rutgers Collaborative Center for Community-Engaged Learning and Research is partnering with the Windows of Understanding Public Art Social Justice Initiative to present a one-hour virtual program entitled “Envisioning Peace in our Community.” This program will feature performances and an intergenerational panel composed of influential community leaders around the recent uptick in gun violence in the city and what steps can be taken by all participants within the community — from students to seniors.

Wash and Learn

Select Wednesdays each month

We are excited to share this innovative bilingual (Spanish-English) program called Wash and Learn. This creative literacy program organized by Roosevelt Elementary School in New Brunswick provides books for children of all ages, as well as adults. All donations are housed at a local laundromat to encourage students to read while parents are doing their laundry.

To donate books to New Brunswick’s Wash and Learn program, please contact Anne-Marie Riveaux McMahon at
anne-marie_mcmahon@nbpsnj.net and Maritza Acevedo at maritza_acevedo@nbpsnj.net.
