This course is designed to enable a well-trained police officer to qualify as an expert and give expert testimony in a court of law relative to the causation factors in motor vehicle traffic crashes. Officers completing this course will be able to give expert testimony in the following areas:

• Derivation and origin of commonly used speed formulas
• Speed of vehicles in a collision
• The effect of weight shift in braking
• Determination of direction of travel

The course includes extensive project work and controlled vehicle experiments. It is mandatory for officers to have completed the Vehicle Dynamics Course, or its equivalent.

Strictly limited to 30 officers.
