  • Location: Monument Square Park
    11 Livingston Ave
    New Brunswick

Celebrate the Arts Institute of Middlesex County’s inaugural FolkLIVE series featuring live performances by icon Bishop Hezekiah Walker and rising sensation, Jekalyn Carr and other local talents!

Join us for the inaugural FolkLIVE concert! This is a FREE performance series for all ages exploring diverse histories, traditions, and stories that make our County culturally rich. This June, experience an afternoon of gospel music with Gospel Icon Hezekiah Walker, rising sensation Jekalyn Carr, and more!

With roots dating back to the foundation of our nation, Gospel music has been traditionally passed down through generations. This genre has carried African American stories and communities through slavery to present day and has been a vital vehicle for political and social change. As Koryn Hawthorne said “There are no ceilings to this Genre. Gospel music is made for ALL people inside and outside of the church.” Please check in for more details on Instagram and Facebook at MiddlesexCountyCulture. Check back soon for more exciting updates as the lineup develops!

We are excited to share this innovative bilingual (Spanish-English) program called Wash and Learn. This creative literacy program organized by Roosevelt Elementary School in New Brunswick provides books for children of all ages, as well as adults. All donations are housed at a local laundromat to encourage students to read while parents are doing their laundry.

To donate books to New Brunswick’s Wash and Learn program, please contact Anne-Marie Riveaux McMahon at
anne-marie_mcmahon@nbpsnj.net and Maritza Acevedo at maritza_acevedo@nbpsnj.net.
