Off Leash Dog Area

Dog parks got their start in California and have become popular all across the country - Middlesex County is certainly no exception. Middlesex County hosts two dog parks where owners can bring their pets to exercise and play in a leash-free environment. One is located in Thompson Park in Monroe Township and the other in Donaldson Park in Highland Park.

The County also partnered with the Township of Edison and the Borough of Metuchen to create the Edison-Metuchen Dog Park on Whitman Avenue in Edison. Through a cooperative agreement with the municipalities, the County constructed this 5-acre off-leash dog area on parkland owned by the Township of Edison. The municipalities share responsibility for the upkeep and maintenance of this facility. Find out more about this great new addition.

All of the dog parks are divided into two sections - one for large dogs and one for smaller breeds. These facilities are extremely popular and a great place to bring your family and friends - both two and four legged!
