Office of the County Treasurer

Joe Pruiti serves as the Treasurer of Middlesex County. The County Treasurer, by law, is the custodian of all County funds. All deposits, disbursements and investments as well as capital fund requirements are made in accordance with the Cash Management Policy and Plan adopted annually by the Board of Chosen Freeholders.

The primary purpose of the Treasurer’s Office is to verify all collections of revenue in an efficient manner. It is a goal of the Treasurer to ensure economic vitality by the collection of revenue for Middlesex County and to support all the other affiliated offices in the county. The Treasurer is responsible for meeting the county's long and short-term capital fund requirements.

Surplus funds are invested systematically by the Treasurer to earn additional income for the county. The investment community's confidence in the excellent financial operation and management practices of Middlesex County is best expressed by the county's AAA Bond Rating.

In addition to handling in excess of $420 million dollars in various revenue sources, the Treasurer's Office is the distribution center for employee pay and payments due vendors doing business with the county.
