Your participation made our presentation a resounding success!

Coming up in September, we invite Career Strategist Michelle Riklan to walk you through the steps of resume writing to put your best foot forward as you embark on your job hunt! Whether you are brand new to the workforce and have never written a CV before, or you have decades of experience that you need to cater to specific applications, you (and everybody in between) could use a little guidance on how to write the resume that:

  • Is the appropriate length to give employers enough information, without overwhelming them
  • Displays your work history in a clean, effective, and eye-catching format
  • Highlights your specific accomplishments and most attractive qualifications
  • Caters your individual skills and experience to the jobs you want
  • Most importantly, gets you the interview!

Michelle Riklan, resume writing and HR expert, started her professional career in corporate human resource management as a generalist, then specialized in employment, employee relations, and training and development at Fortune 1000/500 companies. She subsequently built a successful career management firm that specialized in personal career marketing, outplacement, and soft skills training. For more than 25 years, Michelle has leveraged her skills as a Human Resources Executive, Executive Recruiter, Career Marketing Strategist, Trainer, and Speaker to serve individuals and companies across multiple industries. Michelle has a Master’s degree in Speech and Interpersonal Communication, is an Academy Certified Resume Writer, Certified Professional Resume Writer, Certified Employment Interview Consultant, Certified Job Search Strategist, and a Certified DiSC Trainer. Michelle is a member of Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM), Hospitality Finance and Technology Professionals (HFTP), American Culinary Federation (ACF), Association of Talent Development (ATD, formerly ASTD), Career Directors International (CDI), Career Thought Leaders PARW/CC, and the National Resume Writer’s Association (NRWA).

The County sponsors free educational workshops twice per year.

Learn from the Experts! Presenters from the Rutgers Cooperative Extension Service will teach you all about the composting process – what is composting, how to compost, materials that you can compost and those you cannot, and troubleshooting any issues you might encounter. There are many different types of backyard compost bins, from the simple homemade type to a variety of manufactured types. All will work if you follow the proper procedures.

Tips and Tricks

  • Place your compost bin on bare soil
  • Keep the material moist, like a wrung out sponge
  • Allow it to get air - stir or turn over regularly
  • Cut material being added into small pieces
  • Add a variety of materials
  • Cover added kitchen waste with brown material such as leaves
