MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ – Middlesex County and the Township of Edison announced the completion of safety enhancements at the Oak Tree and Warwick Road intersection with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Monday, October 28. These upgrades aim to enhance safety for pedestrians and drivers by implementing a variety of infrastructure improvements, including a modernized traffic signal with Accessible Pedestrian Signals (APS), updated curb ramps and sidewalks for full ADA compliance, a center turning lane from Fairmount Avenue to Montclair Avenue, and approximately 1,200 feet of roadway improvements and realignment.
“Over the past several years, Middlesex County has prioritized infrastructure investments that make a real difference in the lives of our residents,” said Middlesex County Commissioner Director Ronald G. Rios. “This new traffic light and intersection improvement project demonstrate our ongoing commitment to enhancing public safety and accessibility for all. On behalf of the entire Board of County Commissioners, I extend my gratitude to Mayor Joshi, the Edison Township Council, and the local community members who have been instrumental in bringing this project to fruition.”
“I thank Middlesex County for working with my administration to install this new traffic light at Oak Tree Road and Warwick Road,” said Township of Edison Mayor Sam Joshi. “This is a step towards improved safety for our residents and the facilitation of efficient traffic flow.”
“Making our roads safer for everyone who lives, works, or plays in Middlesex County is a priority,” said Middlesex County Commissioner Charles Kenny, chair of the Transportation Committee. “Through our Vision Zero Action Plan and our partnership with municipalities like Edison, we’re committed to eliminating preventable traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries.
