Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Director Kenneth P. McCormick of the North Brunswick Police Department said today that a Milltown man has been charged with two shootings which took place in the Township.
Clifton Stokes, aka “Trap”, 25, of Milltown was arrested on July 2, 2020 and was charged with four counts of attempted murder in the first degree, two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon in the second degree,
and two counts of possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in the second degree.
He was taken into custody at his Milltown home, and a subsequent search of his residence by the North Brunswick Police Department assisted by the Middlesex County Special Operations Response Team (SORT) yielded multiple weapons and a large amount of what is believed to be numerous forms of illegal narcotics, including heroin and cocaine.
In addition, Stokes was charged with three drug charges; unlawful possession while attempting to distribute a controlled and dangerous substance in the second degree, possession of a controlled and dangerous substance in the third degree, and distribution of a controlled and dangerous substance in the second degree.
The North Brunswick Police Department investigated two shootings which occurred in the Township. On June 2, 2020, at approximately 9:48 pm, North Brunswick Police responded to 1000 Crescent Court in North Brunswick in response to a report of multiple gunshots being fired. Then, on June 30, 2020, at 2:30 pm, Police responded to the same location for another report of multiple gunshots.
As the result of these investigations, Stokes was taken into custody on July 2, 2020. He is being held at the North Brunswick Corrections Center pending a Detention Hearing.

As is the case with all criminal defendants, the charges against Stokes are merely accusations and he is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
