Communications

CommunicationsThe Central Communications Division of the Sheriff's Department never closes. It is operated by Communication Operators seven days a week on a round-the-clock basis. Their primary responsibility is to maintain two-way radio communications with Sheriff's Department personnel and county and municipal agencies.

The Central Communications Division uses computers to receive information quickly and accurately from various state and federal sources. Individuals' criminal history records, information about motor vehicles, and the drivers of these vehicles are accessed and distributed daily. The Middlesex County Hotline is located in the Communications Division. The Hotline can be used to simultaneously alert all municipalities and County and State agencies that participate. In an emergency police situation, the Hotline system would be implemented to coordinate the activities of various law enforcement agencies.
