Lower Raritan-Middlesex County Water Resources Association

The creation of the Lower Raritan-Middlesex County Water Resources Association (LR-MC WRA) was authorized by the Middlesex County Board of Commissioners pursuant to Resolution #2078-1 dated December 29, 1977. On January 28, 2002, the WRA applied to the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) for designation of a Watershed Management Group. On March 1, 2002 the WRA became an officially recognized Watershed Management Group. On July 7, 2007 the new Water Quality Management Rules were adopted and stipulated that New Jersey counties and County designated Water Resource Associations fulfill the requirements of Wastewater Management Planning on the county level. The Lower Raritan-Middlesex County Water Resources Association is the designated lead agency with wastewater management planning authority for the land that officially encompasses Middlesex County.
