Fairway Golf Center BridgeThe duties of the County Engineer and their office include the provision of engineering advice and assistance to all County departments, agencies, and the Board of County Commissioners. The office is also responsible for the engineering work and decisions involved with the design, maintenance, and construction of roads, bridges, sewers, buildings, and other projects, as well as the review and approval of plans and specifications, tabulation of bids, recommendation for award of contracts, supervision and inspection of projects to guarantee contract performance, certification of satisfactory contract performance for final payment, and the acceptance of work for all County public works projects. 

The Office of Engineering consists of three sections, Bridges and Dams & Subdivision and Site Plan; Transportation and Traffic; Park Facilities and Underground Storage Tanks.

Each section has its own distinct areas of responsibility. The personnel of the sections provide the professional expertise required to implement the policies of the Board of County Commissioners and to bring engineering and architectural projects to fruition.
